Firm Overview
The Attorneys at COOPER & FORBES have over fifty (50) years of combined legal experience handling all types of legal matters. Professional StaffLINDA D. COOPER, ESQ., has had a specialty certification in the area of family law since 1997 by the Ohio State Bar Association. Currently there are less than one hundred attorneys certified in the area of family law in the State of Ohio.
In order to be certified in the area of family law an attorney must demonstrate a substantial and continuing involvement in the area of family law. The certification applicant must be favorably evaluated by other attorneys and judges familiar with their work in the practice of family law. Initially the attorney is required to pass an examination but the attorney must continue to demonstrate that he or she has attended 12 hours of continuing legal education in the specialty area. This is in addition to the minimum requirement of every attorney to attend 12 hours of continuing legal education every year. The hours earned in the specialty area must be earned at seminars offering intermediate or experienced levels of courses. Only attorneys who have been certified by the Ohio State Bar Association may represent that they are certified specialists in an area of law.
The area of family law includes divorce, dissolution, custody, child support, spousal support, juvenile court related issues and paternity.
The Ohio State Bar Association was accredited by the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Certification of Attorneys as Specialists (CCAS).
